KAD Publications will be officially launching its latest publication, the book by Dr June Alexis and Dr Keith Davidson entitled ‘The Power of the Mind: A new perspective on intellect and intelligence’

This book launch will be held on Thursday 7 June 2018 in the Nunn Hall at University College London (UCL) Institute of Education (IOE), from 6.30 pm to 8.30 pm.

The address for the venue is 20 Bedford Way, Russell Square, London WC1H 0AL. For transportation: Russell Square Underground Station on the Piccadilly Line; Euston Rail and Underground Station; and for Buses - 91, 59, 68 and 168.

The event will be chaired by Professor Heidi Mirza, and below is her endorsement statement of the book:

‘With the eloquence of seasoned academic writers Davidson and Alexis forensically unmask the ugly truths behind the pseudoscience of IQ in this riveting book. They challenge head-on the mythology of innate differential intelligence that plagues our education system and prevents our children from fulfilling their God given potential. The authors carefully and deftly uncover the historical roots of the 19th Century Eugenics movement and how its ideology of race and class superiority finds a lasting legacy in the deep rifts of social and economic inequality and the political unrest we see in the world today. Ultimately, they conclude the key to ‘free our minds’ from mental slavery lies in overcoming the irrational and entrenched beliefs in meritocracy and hierarchies of innate intelligence that are used to divide rich and poor, black and white. The solution, they reveal, can be found in real honest, open, rich, spiritual learning which develops and nourishes the true human intellect.

This book is essential reading for parents, teachers, policy makers, educationalists and social researchers who are passionate about equality and social justice for all our children.’ Professor Heidi Mirza, Emeritus Professor UCL, Institute of Education

Other speakers who will comment and support the book are: Professor Gus John; the Honourable Diane Abbott, MP; and Dr Gertrude Shotte.
